Strive to Engage Community in Improving Education for All Students in Cincinnati Public Schools

Strive announces today new work to create deeper connections between the grassroots community and the schools in the Cincinnati Public School (CPS) district. This work, supported by a $490,021 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is focused on increasing public ownership of education, including school system operations, successes and challenges, and consequently improving academic performance and attainment of students in CPS.

Strive Awards Endorsement to Cincinnati College Access Alliance Action Plan

Strive is pleased to recognize the hard work that resulted in the award of a Stage Two Endorsement to the action plan proposed by the Cincinnati College Access Alliance (Alliance). This endorsement means that the Alliance has established local evidence that the services they provide work for students, have implemented a plan of action to increase these services and are committed to collecting data ongoing to make continuous improvements.

State Awards Grant For CPS ‘STEM’ High School

A planning grant totaling $596,770 has been awarded by the State of Ohio to create an innovative high school in Cincinnati Public Schools designed to promote excellence in the highly sought skill areas known as STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

On March 20, 2008, Strive and partners released the first Striving Together: Student Progress on the Roadmap to Success report at an event held at 8:00 a.m. at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College Conference Center.

Strive Awards First Endorsements
Strive, our region's education partnership, has awarded the first Stage Two Endorsements to two Student Success Networks (SSNs) dedicated to Early Childhood Education: Success By 6® in Newport and Success By 6® in Hamilton County, a United Way of Greater Cincinnati initiative.

KnowHow2Go Rally on Fountain Square
It’s all part of a national campaign, KnowHow2Go, that kicks off locally Saturday, June 16, 2007 with a four hour event (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) on Fountain Square. All area middle and high school students (and their parents!) are invited.

College Resource Center to Be Unveiled by Mayor Mark Mallory
Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory and representatives from The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, STRIVE, and the Public Library will unveil the College Resource Center in a press conference at the Main Library, 800 Vine Street, on Friday, March 9, 10:00 a.m.

Strive Community Forums
Strive, with a vision to make sure every child in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky succeeds from birth through college and enters a career, wants to hear from the community. Strive partners will begin holding public forums over the next few weeks to solicit feedback, learn about issues and hear ideas from students, families, teachers and community members.
